每门考试分两个section,分别为100道单项选择题（multiple—choice）和2道主观题（essayquestion）,单项选择题考试时间为3小时，主观题为1小时，每门考试时间总计4小时。每年有3个考试窗口，每个考试窗口的时间为两个月，分别是：1月/2月，5月/6月，9月/10月。

中文新纲考试在2012年12月1日正式开考，其考试内容与英文考试相同。考生需遵守与CMA英文考试一样的各项规则

考试通过后，CMA资格候选人还应满足下列条件：
成为美国管理会计师协会（IMA）会员；
符合工作经验要求；
遵循道德规范准则（StandardsofEthicalConduct）
必须符合下列其中一项学历或教育认证：
大学学历（三年制大专及以上，非美国或加拿大须取得IMA认可的独立认证机构认证的成绩单）
通过美国会计师考试（U.S.CPAExam）,美国特许金融分析师考试（CFAExam）,国际内部审计师考试（CIAExam）或取得其它IMA认可之专业认证资格（如ACCA）
CMA考试地点
学员在申请成为IMA普通会员后，可以在Prometric分布在全国的计算机考试中心进行考试
